The View’s Alyssa Farah Griffin Admits Getting ‘Emotional’ After Harris Rally At Ellipse While Contrasting With Trump on Jan. 6

ABC’s The View spent its opening segment covering Vice President Kamala Harris’s enormous Tuesday night rally in Washington, DC, which was meant to serve as her closing argument in the 2024 presidential campaign. But one co-host admitted that despite her political differences, she found herself getting “emotional” over the symbolism of the rally.

Alyssa Farah Griffin is an outspoken Republican who served under former President Donald Trump, but she has since become an ardent critic of the ex-president. During the conversation about the rally, Griffin recalled the last time a political figure delivered remarks at the Ellipse in the nation’s capitol:

These remarks hit me last night, I got to say. I found myself getting a little bit emotional watching them because the last time we saw a major national figure speak from the Ellipse outside of the White House, it was Donald Trump on January 6th. And I will never forget, I was at my in-laws in Florida, I had already resigned, when he said, you know, “if Mike Pence has the courage to do this.” And I just had this pit in my stomach thinking, “You just put him in so much danger.” There was a mob there of people who are ready to go march up because you told them to.

So, this imagery of standing and reclaiming that space, also showing a woman in front of the White House looking presidential, I think was incredibly powerful. The message is what resonated with me. Donald Trump has not asked for my vote. He’s actually said he’s declined every opportunity to ask for Nikki Haley voters’ support. But she’s saying she wants to be a president for all Americans. Juxtapose that to the trash talk we heard this weekend and that the fact that as we speak, he’s already trying to undermine this election. It hasn’t even happened. And he’s saying there’s fraud in Pennsylvania. He’s just spewing lies. He is teeing up another January 6th. We could be just months away from seeing something like that unfold again, because this man is incapable of losing and doing the right thing for the country. And I hope folks remember that.
