Eric Adams Suggests Biden DOJ Targeted Him for Political Revenge at Chaotic Presser: ‘Who Gave the Directive and Orders?’
New York City Mayor Eric Adams doubled down on his suggestion that he is being unfairly targeted by the federal government on Thursday, just minutes after the five count indictment against him for crimes allegedly committed in furtherance of a campaign finance and foreign influence scheme was released.
At a press conference held by the mayor shortly after the specific charges against him were made public, Adams was asked about he believes is targeting him over his criticism of the federal government’s handling of the border and migrant crises over the last few years.
“Exactly who in the federal government, White House do you say is targeting you for speaking out?” Adams was asked by one reporter. “Are we talking about the Biden administration, are we talking about Homeland Security? Who are we talking about?”
He was also asked about his instant reaction to the indictment after reading the allegations against him.
“I think that your second question, I think you need to ask the federal prosecutors who gave the directive and the orders, I don’t know. But we should ask them who gave the directive and orders that we’re going to take on and create this group of lies? They have the answer to that question,’ replied Adams. “When it comes down to reading it, I perused through it to get the top lines, the attorneys are going to dig into the crevices of it. But it is clear: everyone that knows me knows I follow campaign rules and I follow the law. That is how I live my life, and I don’t see coming into the 60s and my age, all of a sudden change what I’ve done all the time. I follow the law and I follow the campaign rule.”
In a video released shortly after the news broke that Adams would face criminal charges, Adamas said that he was not surprised. “I always knew that if I stood my ground for all of you, that I would be a target, and a target I became,” argued the mayor.
The indictment against Adams charges him with accepting foreign campaign contributions and gifts, concealing them through straw donors, using his power to benefit the Turkish government, and defrauding New York City by stealing public funds.
