Mitch McConnell Received Medical Care After Fall During GOP Lunch

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) received medical care after falling during a GOP lunch on Tuesday.

McConnell’s latest fall will likely further stoke concerns about the 82-year-old’s health as it follows reports of similar incidents, as well as viral moments where he froze up in 2023 at press conferences. Multiple reporters took to X, formerly Twitter, to announce the latest McConnell incident.

Punchbowl News’ John Bresnahan reported McConnell was being attended to by EMTs after speaking at the lunch. He also reported the Republican leader had a cut on the left side of his face.

McConnell was escorted back to his office by Senate Republican Conference Chair John Barrasso (R-WY), who was hosting the GOP lunch. The lunch is a weekly event. McConnell did not take part in a weekly GOP press conference after the lunch.

MSNBC’s Ali Vitali reported that medical personnel were seen leaving McConnell’s office.

The reporter referenced McConnell’s past public issues in her report. There is still no official word from the senator’s office.

“He had moments where he appeared to freeze on camera,” she said. “Those health experiences were never really explained by McConnell’s office, but we do know he sought to reassure his colleagues and the press in the aftermath of those events. We have not seen any health scares like that from McConnell in the interim period, from September through right now, but we do know he has fallen in the past.”
