Biden’s Brother Testifies to House Oversight Committee That POTUS ‘Has Never Had Any Involvement’ In His Business Dealings
James Biden, one of President Joe Biden’s younger brothers, testified behind closed doors in front of the House Oversight Committee that the president was never involved in any of his business dealings.
The younger Biden’s testimony on Wednesday was part of the House’s impeachment inquiry against the president, which has so far produced no evidence of high crimes or misdemeanors. But despite several blows to the nearly nonexistent case against the president, House Republicans on the Oversight Committee continue to push.
In his opening statement to the committee, James Biden stated:
1. I have had a 50-year career in a variety of business ventures. Joe Biden has never had any involvement or any direct or indirect financial interest in those activities. None.
2. Because of my intimate knowledge of my brother’s personal integrity and character, as well as my own strong ethics, I have always kept my professional life separate from our close personal relationship.
3. I never asked my brother to take any official action on behalf of me, my business associates, or anyone else.
4. In every business venture in which I have been involved, I have relied on my own talent, judgment, skill, and personal relationships — and never my status as Joe Biden’s brother. Those who have said or thought otherwise were either mistaken, ill informed, or flat-out lying.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) admitted on Tuesday that he may not have the votes to impeach Biden. In addition to the math, Alexander Smirnov, the FBI informant who made the claim that the president received a $5 million bribe for getting Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin fired, was arrested last week for lying to the FBI. He also admitted that he was working at the direction of Russian intelligence.
