MSNBC Analyst Calls for Biden to Pardon Every Single Democrat On Enemies List Published By Trump’s FBI Director Pick

MSNBC contributor Michelle Goldberg called for President Joe Biden to preemptively “pardon all” people that President-elect Donald Trump could possibly seek to “go after” while in office.

On the night he reclaimed the presidency, Trump called for unity and urged Americans to “put the divisions of the past four years behind us.” Yet, within two days, he was vowing to investigate political opponents and media organizations.

Whether these threats or others will materialize remains uncertain but Trump’s campaign promises of “retribution” for perceived wrongs have left both allies and adversaries bracing for a potential wave of payback when he returns to the White House again in January.

Biden’s decision to pardon his son Hunter Biden has sparked conversation among some whether the president should preemptively pardon others.

On Wednesday MSNBC host Alex Wagner referenced an article by Atlantic writer Paul Rosensweig who suggested that Trump’s opponents, like Liz Cheney, would suffer the reputational hurt, harassment and financial burden of indictment or investigation.

“Biden owes it to Trump’s most prominent critics to save them from that burden,” Rosensweig wrote.

Wagner asked Golberg her view. She replied:

I agree with that argument… There is a way to do this I think that would make the narrative clear cut for the American people. It is not ideal to have incoming potential head of the FBI Kash Patel who has published enemies lists. But one advantage of that is he wrote a book, he has an enemies list in it. So we know exactly who he has threatened to go after without cause. Just pardon everyone on it.

Pardon everyone on it. Give a speech and say, this is one reason I wish the president was a better communicator, but give us a speech and say: ‘I wasn’t able to save the country from Donald Trump. But this is what they have threatened to do. I think we should take them seriously.’

And it is important to do that also just to give the American people, at least those who can be reached by the president, some framework for what’s coming. And saying: ‘Because these people have not committed crimes, I am giving them blanket pardons because the list of potential false investigations… the list of potential investigations is boundless.’ Again, I think you could keep going back to [how] they have published an enemies list and made it clear who they want to go after. If you look at the enemies list, the absurdity of going after some of these figures should be clear. Just pardon all of them.
