‘I’m About To Get the F*ck Out of Here’: Lame Duck Democratic Senator in No Mood To Answer Questions About Biden Pardon
Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT), who lost his reelection bid last month, is not particularly interested in addressing the latest D.C. drama.
On Sunday, President Joe Biden issued a sweeping pardon of son Hunter Biden for crimes he committed or may have committed between 2014 and 2024. The younger Biden was convicted in two separate federal cases involving lying on a federal firearms form, and tax evasion. Biden and the White House repeatedly stated he would not pardon his son.
The reactions came in fast and furious, as countless media figures and politicians weighed in. The takes broke down largely along partisan lines. There were exceptions, however.
“President Biden’s decision put personal interest ahead of duty and further erodes Americans’ faith that the justice system is fair and equal for all,” Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) wrote.
“If it was my son, I’d pardon him, too,” Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) admitted to reporters.
Tester, however, would not play along. Sahil Kapur of NBC News tweeted on Monday that the soon-to-be private citizen is “living his best life” as evidenced by his response to a question about the pardon, which he gave “with a wide smile.”
“I’m about to get the fuck out of here,” Tester said. “Ask somebody else.”
CNN’s Manu Raju also reported on the senator’s reaction, but with a slightly different quote.
Tester was defeated last month by businessman Tim Sheehy.
