Meghan McCain Triggers Explosion of Blowback by Calling Hunter Biden a ‘Nepo Baby’

Meghan McCain, daughter of the late Republican presidential candidate John McCain, received backlash on Monday after she called President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden a “nepo baby.”

After Biden issued a “Full and Unconditional Pardon” for his son on Sunday, McCain reacted, “No one is above the law except the Presidents nepo baby is a helluva parting message for democrats…”

While McCain’s reaction received more than 12,000 likes on X, it was also heavily criticized due to the similarities between McCain and Biden’s situation.

 

“What is a nepo baby, Meghan McCain,” mocked Majority Report producer Matt Lech, while liberal commentator Ed Krassenstein questioned, “Do you think your dad would have done the same for you?”

Cable news legal analyst Jeffrey Evan Gold responded, “Weird. Why is she famous again?”

But it wasn’t the first time McCain described Biden as a “nepo baby.”

“Sometimes the absolute best thing a famous parent can do for their nepo baby child is simply tell them no,” she wrote in May, receiving similar backlash.

In 2023, after McCain called Biden a “nepo baby scumbag” in an article for the Daily Mail, Mehdi Hasan reacted, “Meghan McCain – Meghan *McCain* – is calling Hunter Biden a ‘nepo baby scumbag’. You can’t make this stuff up.”

In December 2022, McCain acknowledged her status as a “nepo baby” herself and called on others in her position to “acknowledge” their “privilege.”

“To my fellow “Nepo Babies” – just acknowledge your privilege, the opportunities your last name has gotten you and move on. It’s pretty simple,” she advised.
