Karl Rove Dismisses Donald Trump Jr.’s Political Future: He’s Busy ‘Trying to Figure Out Which Girlfriend He Actually Has’

Fox News’s Karl Rove dismissed Donald Trump Jr.’s political future at The Atlantic Festival on Friday, joking that Trump is busy “trying to figure out which girlfriend he actually has” — referencing reports that the son of former President Donald Trump and his fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle, are on the rocks.

Rove’s mockery of Trump Jr. came after moderator Elaina Plott Calabro posed a question about the future of the Republican Party.

After noting that many Trump-like candidates won their primaries before losing in the 2022 general election, Calabro asked Rove, “What is it going to take for Republican leadership to sort of move the primary electorate where they think the party should go instead of following it?”

“I may be wrong about this but let’s assume for a moment that he [Trump] loses. What’s the future of the Republican Party gonna be like?” he asked rhetorically. “There’ll be a battle. The good news for more traditional Republicans is that he’s sui generis, which for, I know there are a lot of Latinists among The Atlantic crowd, he’s unique. And who would follow him? Don Jr.?”

“Right now he’s busy, maybe he’s trying to figure out which girlfriend he actually has,” he added to laughs from the crowd. “Josh Hawley? JD Vance? You know, you take those and match them up against a Brian Kemp or a Glenn Youngkin or a Tim Scott or fill-in-the-blank and it’s hard to see that they have anywhere near the ability to mobilize a populist movement that he has.”

“I don’t see the person that follows him,” he concluded.

Trump Jr. has been in the tabloids of late after photographs taken of him with another woman were published by The Daily Mail. A purported eyewitness to the encounter said that the pair weren’t “making out, but the kisses were romantic.”

NewsNation, however, has reported that he and Guilfoyle are still together.
