‘Really?’ CNN’s Chris Wallace Stunned When He Asks For ‘Chances Biden Will Be Impeached’ — And Answer Is ‘ZERO!’
CNN anchor Chris Wallace asked his panel “What are the chances President Joe Biden will be impeached?” as Republicans gear up to make their impeachment inquiry official — and was surprised the answer was “ZERO!”
House Republicans have begun to make noises about holding a vote on the impeachment inquiry they launched without a vote, and despite widespread acknowledgment by journalists and even other Republicans that there is “no evidence” of wrongdoing by President Biden.
Journalists Kristen Soltis Anderson, Lulu Garcia-Navarro, Reihan Salam, and Kara Swisher joined Wallace for this week’s edition of CNN’s The Chris Wallace Show on Saturday morning, during which both Swisher and conservative Salam surprised him by agreeing there’s no chance a vote to impeach the president would succeed:
CHRIS WALLACE: You know, there was talk about impeachment. It looks like that the House majority Republicans may vote to to launch a formal impeachment inquiry next week. They’ve been doing it, but just on, without any official majority vote on the floor because they think it’ll put them on better stead in court when they try to subpoena Hunter or whomever. Let’s assume that happens and they have the investigation. What do you think are the chances that this House will vote to impeach Joe Biden?
KARA SWISHER: ZERO!
CHRIS WALLACE: Really?
KARA SWISHER: Zero.
CHRIS WALLACE: Why?
KARA SWISHER: Because it’s a, it’s a waste of time. It’s and they need to do it because they need to do it. But, you know, Hunter Biden is a tale as old as time. I’m old enough. Remember Billy Carter? There’s there’s always been some presidential mess and Trump’s got a pile of them in his own family.
I do think what Biden people should do is push back a little more of the dad who loves his kid blind spot. Everybody has a kid like this. I think there’s, he’s he’s a liability. There’s no question, he’s got a drug problem. He had a drug problem. I think there’s there’s no win here, but it’s not a win for the Republicans.
CHRIS WALLACE: Reihan, what do you think are the chances that the House in the end after and there’s no question they’ll do that inquiry, they’ll find some way to get Hunter to testify, whether it’s in closed deposition or in public. What are the chances that Joe Biden will be impeached?
REIHAN SALAM: I agree with Kara, basically. And the the.
CHRIS WALLACE: Don’t say it under, with such pain in your voice!
REIHAN SALAM: Look, the thing that really pains me, honestly, Chris, is that Republicans should be focusing on investigating the Biden administration for its posture towards Iran. That is something I would love to see. And they’ve been completely asleep at the switch on that. Hunter? It’s a joke.
CHRIS WALLACE: All right. A subject to be discussed later, Iran.
