CNN Commentator Tells Chris Wallace Biden Will Definitely Pardon Hunter – No Matter What He Says Now

CNN anchor Chris Wallace cast doubt on President Joe Biden’s promise not to pardon First Son Hunter Biden, and co-star Jonah Goldberg flat-out insisted — without evidence — the president was lying when he made the pledge.

Earlier this week, ABC News anchor David Muir asked Biden about pardoning Hunter — currently on trial for gun charges and facing tax charges in California — if he would rule out pardoning his son:

DAVID MUIR: As we sit here in Normandy. Your son Hunter is on trial. And I know that you cannot speak about an ongoing federal prosecution. But let me ask you. Will you accept the jury’s outcome, their verdict, no matter what it is?

PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: Yes.

DAVID MUIR: And have you ruled out a pardon for your son?

PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: Yes.

Journalists Jonah GoldbergLulu Garcia-NavarroReihan Salam, and Kara Swisher joined Wallace for this week’s edition of CNN’s  on Saturday morning.

In an early segment that was preempted by Biden’s remarks in France, Wallace interrupted Garcia-Navarro to suggest the president’s promise was not genuine:

GARCIA-NAVARRO: And also, by the way, he has said — he was asked directly and he has said he wouldn’t pardon his son if he gets convicted.

WALLACE: Let’s wait and see what happens if he loses.

GARCIA-NAVARRO: Yes. But he said it. He said he would —

WALLACE: What was he going to say? He has to say that.

GARCIA-NAVARRO: Well, I don’t know. President Trump —

CNN cut away to the president’s remarks at that point.

But later in the show, Goldberg was definitive that Biden was lying, without offering evidence, and Wallace did not comment:

WALLACE: It’s time for our panel special takes so what’s happening or predictions of what we should be looking out for. So Jonah, hit me with your best shot.

GOLDBERG: So we don’t know if Hunter Biden is actually going to be found guilty. I think he will. We don’t know even if he’s found guilty whether he will go get a real prison sentence in this or in a subsequent tax case. If he does get a real prison sentence, despite your endearing faith in Joe Biden’s word, Joe Biden will pardon his son to spare him a prison sentence after the election one way or the other.

GOLDBERG: All right.
