Fox’s Maria Bartiromo Stunned When Guest Calls Transgender ‘Mental Illness’ — Then Keeps Being Mad At Biden-Easter Flap

Fox host Maria Bartiromo was stunned by a guest who called being transgender a “mental illness” — but then continued to express outrage over the concocted Biden-Easter controversy over the Trans Day of Visibility.

Right-leaning critics fanned fires of outrage over President Joe Biden’s proclamation marking “Transgender Day of Visibility, 2024” — which coincidentally fell on Easter Sunday but is always on March 31. The proclamation was one of eleven that Biden made simultaneously to mark various recognition days or months.

Many conservative outlets falsely implied or explicitly said that the president changed Easter into a transgender holiday and expressed outrage.

On Monday morning’s edition of Fox Business Network’s Mornings With Maria, Bartiromo wrapped up her interview with Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) by teeing up the controversy.

As Burchett launched into a rant denigrating trans people, you can hear Bartiromo clicking away on her keyboard, which could account for her delayed reaction to Burchett’s “mental illness” slur.

While it took Bartiromo aback, she nonetheless continued to express outrage, accusing the president of “dividing” the country by recognizing trans people — which the Vatican also does — and calling it “outrageous” to “Christians and Catholics” (note: Catholics are Christians):

MARIA BARTIROMO: Meanwhile, in more efforts to divide us. Coming out of the White House this weekend, President Biden marking Transgender Visibility Day on Easter Sunday. He posted this on air today on Transgender Day of Visibility. I have a simple message to all trans Americans I see you. You are made in the image of God and you’re worthy of respect and dignity.

Congressman, no one is arguing, any of that. But to name Transgender Day on Easter Sunday. Christians across the country felt that was a smack in the face.

REP. TIM BURCHETT: It was a complete smack in the face. Maria, I even posted on X or Twitter I said Jesus wept. I know that’s not what Jesus was weeping about, but I. I felt that that was that strong of a message.

You know, we see ’em, the people in his administration, you know, been in trouble that have that are is transgender, you know, box checking that he’s done the salon that was, in the dress that was in the airport stealing women’s clothing. That was over some of our nuclear secrets. I mean, things like that.

See military recruitment down because of this, this movement. They’re pushing through the budget, continuation of of surgeries on transgenders.

You know, this thing is, it’s, it’s a mental illness. We just gotta address it. It’s it’s not a, it’s not a normal type lifestyle, and and, I can’t I can’t be more, against what the president did. And I think it shows too. He is just trying to secure his base–.

(stunned recognition) Mental illness?

You know, here and and he’s losing everything but his base and his far-left base, you know, agrees with this type of type of behavior.

MARIA BARTIROMO: And I don’t know what you’re saying in terms of mental illness. I have no idea what you’re talking about in that regard.

But I will say this. Christians, want their Easter Sunday, and Easter Sunday happens to be on March 31st this year. So to declare a transgender visibility day on the day of Easter holiday, the resurrection. When, when you know, Christians and Catholics everywhere believe this is a high holy day. That is outrageous.

And to me it is. It is a means to divide us. This is what this administration does, Black versus White, Hispanic versus something else. You know, gay versus, you know, homosexual versus heterosexual. I mean, rich versus poor. It’s all dividing this country.

And this is a key weapon that this administration uses time and time again, people are sick and tired of it. Instead of unity, he divides us time and time again.
