‘Oh, I Don’t Care’: Biden Brushes Off Question About Whether He’d Want to Run Against Trump or Haley
President Joe Biden took questions from reporters on Tuesday before boarding Air Force One to head to California — and it sounds like he’s ready for anything when it comes to who his opponent will be in the general election.
During the brief conversation with reporters, Biden did tell them that he planned to announce a “major package” of Russian sanctions on Friday in response to the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, which many have blamed on Russian President Vladimir Putin. While Biden didn’t offer details, he did offer himself up to the press when he made the announcement.
But he was also asked about who he’d rather face in the general election: former President Donald Trump or former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley. To that, Biden waved the question off and jokingly said, “Oh, I don’t care.”
It’s hard to hear the question since many reporters are speaking, but Fox News host Sandra Smith clarified what was said after they cut back to the studio.
The question about the general election came a few days before the South Carolina primary. Despite it being Haley’s home state, and where she served as governor, she’s polling way behind frontrunner Trump. And despite that, she has vowed to stay in the GOP primary race until after Super Tuesday, saying during an emotional speech on Tuesday: “I will not quit.”
