Trump Crows About the Reception He Received at Slain NYPD Officer’s Wake: ‘When I Walked Into That Funeral Parlor, It Was Like Love’

Former President Donald Trump bragged about the reception he received at the wake of slain NYPD officer Jonathan Diller this past Thursday.

Speaking with Brian Kilmeade in an interview which aired Saturday night on Kilmeade’s One Nation, the former President crowed about how he was greeted when he arrived at the service in Massapequa, NY, and attributed the warm reception to his stated support for law enforcement.

“I support the police,” Trump said. “I would say at the highest level of any president by far. Maybe double or triple. And they knew that. That’s why when I walked into that funeral parlor, it was like love.”

Diller was killed in the line of duty when he was shot during a traffic stop in Queens on March 25.

Trump’s account matches that of Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman (R) — who claimed in a Fox News interview on Friday that the former president got a round of applause during his visit.

“Something happened that I’ve never seen at a wake before,” Blakeman told Fox. “All the friends and family of Jonathan gave him an ovation. Started clapping for the president. And it was very warm, it was very beautiful, it was very moving.”

Trump went on to denounce what he called a “lack of respect for law and order.”

“The family is devastated,” Trump said. “The police force is devastated. The whole country feels this way and it’s happening more and more. And it’s really a lack of respect for law and order. And we have to have law and order back in our country.”

After attending the service, the former president was called out by the family of Brian Sicknick — the Capitol Police officer who died during the Jan. 6 riot.

“The guy’s a criminal,” Charles Sicknick, Brian’s father, told the New York Daily News. “He’s the reason my son is dead — because of the riot at the Capitol.”

“The fact is he states he’s law and order but he sent a mob that ultimately ended up killing my brother,” Kenneth Sicknick, Brian’s brother, told the News. “He has such a lack of self-awareness of what he does. He’s using that officer’s death as a campaign platform.”

The former president has also referred to Capitol Policer Officer Michael Byrd as a “thug” for fatally shooting Jan. 6 rioter Ashli Babbitt. (Byrd was cleared of wrongdoing by the Justice Department.) And he has also attacked the FBI as “vicious monsters.”
