WATCH: Cameramen Call For Biden As He And Other Leaders Miss Final Photo At G20 Summit

President Joe Biden did not join the final photo of world leaders at the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro on Monday. The AFP reported that Biden went to join the photo “only to find they had already taken the picture without him.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also missed the photo as they were huddling with Biden at the time nearby. As the photo was being taken CSPAN’s camera coverage of the event picked up staffers saying, “Where is Biden? They are telling them to wait for Biden.”

The world leaders did not wait, however, and exited the staging ground for the photo before Biden arrived.

“Due to logistical issues, they took the photo early before all the leaders arrived,” a senior official told the press pool immediately after the photo was taken. The AFP noted:

US officials denied that Biden missed the photo — officially for Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s launch of an alliance to curb world hunger — to avoid appearing alongside Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Biden had earlier urged the G20 leaders to support Ukraine’s “sovereignty” in the face of Russia’s 2022 invasion.

Security concerns also appeared to play a part in leaders missing the photo. “On another issue, earlier today, as leaders entered, there was a ramp entrance that Biden didn’t take it — and neither did some of the other leaders, per the source — when he entered (out of view of press) because of “security” concerns,” added the report.
