‘Hysterical!’ Charlamagne Openly Laughs At Lara Trump Claim Trump Isn’t ‘Racist’ in Charged Breakfast Club Interview

Radio host Charlamagne tha God openly laughed at Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump’s defense of her father-in-law, former President Donald Trump, after she claimed she had “never seen” him say anything racist.

Lara Trump appeared on Monday’s episode of The Breakfast Club for a wide-ranging conversation on the Trump campaign and issues discussed by the former president.

About 20 minutes into the interview, co-host DJ Envy raised accusations that Trump was “racist”, citing his past call for the “death penalty” for the Central Park Five, who were wrongfully convicted of rape in New York City in 1989, and his conspiracy theory about former President Barack Obama’s citizenship.

Lara Trump dismissed the cases as “ridiculous.”

She continued: “I’ve known this man for 16 years. And, you know, you can go to each of those incidents, and you know, there was, there was never any, any proof of anything… However, I will say that you have to look at somebody and what they actually have done, and Donald Trump really was very beneficial to the black community when he was in the White House. I will say I’ve never seen this man say a racist thing. I think the attacks are fairly…”

As the host chuckled off-camera, Lara Trump stopped speaking and asked: “Why is that funny?”

“I’m just laughing,” Charlamagne replied. “It’s hysterical. But, I mean, people act like there’s no such thing as Google or we don’t have TV, radio…”

The tension escalated when Lara challenged him to specify any of Trump’s alleged racist remarks. In response, the show cut to a series of inflammatory statements Trump had made over the years, including one from 2015 where he said Mexicans crossing the border were “bringing drugs” and were “rapists.”

Lara Trump tried to shift the narrative by highlighting that her father-in-law was “friends with everyone” and mentioning his relationship with civil rights activist Jesse Jackson.

Co-host Jess Hilarious cut in: “Please don’t do that ‘he had black friends.’ That’s not going to work out.”

The guest then pivoted to defend Trump’s record: “You can go pick apart somebody all you want. It is a traditional talking point to attack Republicans, to call them racist. But when you look at the things that he wants for this country, he wants every person to be successful. He wants black Americans to be successful, Hispanic Americans to be successful, women to be successful.”

She added: “I hate that the constant knee jerk is ‘Donald Trump is a racist, Donald Trump is a racist.’ I can tell you he wants every person to be successful. He’ll work for every American equally. He did that the first term when he was president, and he’ll do it again.”

Charlamagne then pressed Lara Trump on the former president’s recent comments and conspiracy theories that Haitian immigrants in Ohio were eating people’s pets.

He asked: “How do you ask Mexicans and Muslims to ignore a lot of the rhetoric, Haitians to ignore a lot of the rhetoric that he said about them that is dangerous, that has villainized them, that has demonized them?”

Lara Trump argued in return that many of Trump’s “comments get misconstrued” but maintained that he is in strict opposition to illegal immigration.

Charlamagne doubled down: “When you make these broad generalizations, you do hurt the Haitian Americans that are here, the Mexican Americans that are here. They all get labeled and villainized and demonized.”

But the guest returned to dismiss the allegation completely.
