Bill Burr Roasts Crowd at UC Berkeley Comedy Show: ‘I F**king Hate Liberals’
Comedian Bill Burr declared he hates liberals while speaking at University of California, Berkeley, a school often mocked by conservatives for being a bastion of woke and left-wing ideologies.
“I f*cking hate liberals,” Burr told the UC Berkeley crowd, first reported by SFGate.
Burr’s jokes mainly targeted white liberals, likening white people who hang Black Lives Matter signs to “if I told you my great grandmother in Germany had a ‘Knock It Off, Nazis’ sign.”
The comedian also roasts white people who refer to themselves as “empaths,” arguing such people only make other suffering all about them.
“If you run into a white person who says they’re an empath, run the other way,” he said.
SFGate reported Burr only got one heckler and the subject they chose to yell about was sports, not politics. Liberals, editor Gabe Lehman wrote, were likely “overrepresented” in the crowd.
Berkeley is often targeted and mocked by conservatives. Last year, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) told students seeking “woke” classes and DEI standards should “go to Berkeley.”
It is also one of multiple college campuses to recently have an encampment by pro-Palestinian activists calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.
In 2017, Ann Coulter canceled an appearance at the school amid protests, and Fox News host Jesse Watters would go on to claim the school is “no safe space” for conservatives. Ben Shapiro also faced backlash and protests for speaking at the school that same year.
Bill Burr is not typically a political comedian. In a recent interview with Bill Maher on the Club Random podcast, Burr mocked Maher for offering a “very simple solution” for the Middle East and shocked his host when he declared that cancel culture is a thing of the past. As Maher tried to dive deeper on the subject of cancel culture, Burr quickly changed subjects.
