Daily Beast Editor Accuses Trump of ‘Microdosing’ Drugs Like ‘His Friend’ Elon Musk: ‘It’s Astonishing Behavior’
The Daily Beast chief content officer and creative officer Joanna Coles suggested “microdosing” could be behind some of former President Donald Trump’s recent “drunken behavior.”
Coles joined Morning Joe on Wednesday and questioned Trump’s mental acuity following his fiery appearance at the Economic Club of Chicago and a rally that became an impromptu music festival for about 40 minutes.
Coles suggested Trump is “microdosing” drugs like “his friend” Elon Musk.
“This feels like drunken behavior. I think he’s probably microdosing, like his friend and supporter Elon Musk. It’s astonishing behavior and it’s irrational. And if we’re exhausted about this campaign, imagine how Donald Trump is feeling. He seems like he’s just lost the plot. Yesterday he was saying that Democrats are communists, then they’re fascists, he’s all over the shop,” she said.
Coles theorized Trump is as worn out by this election cycle as voters.
“I think he’s crawling to the end just like the rest of us,” she said.
Jonathan Lemire cleaned up the “microdosing” accusation by explaining immediately after Coles that there is no proof the former president is taking drugs. He did argue that Trump is facing the same questions about age and stamina that President Joe Biden faced before ultimately dropping his reelection campaign.
“Though no evidence the former president is micordosing or using any sort of drugs, the events of this week, the dancing the other night, his speech in front of the Economic Club yesterday — certainly raising questions about his fitness for office again, questions that President Biden had to face now renewed on Donald Trump,” he said.
