Elon Musk has given his blessing in the race for Senate Majority Leader, now that Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is readying for retirement.

The three-way race pits senators John Thune (R-SD), John Cornyn (R-TX), and Rick Scott (R-FL) against one another for the top post.

Thune is currently McConnell’s second-in-command, while Cornyn held the position before Thune, the AP reported. Both Thune and Cornyn have been described as “more establishment Republicans, top McConnell allies and sometimes critics of Trump,” whereas, Scott has been a longtime Trump supporter.

Not surprisingly, Musk backed the Trump ally on his social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

“(Republican) Senator Thune is the top choice of Democrats 🤣🤣,” Musk wrote, mocking Thune.

About an hour later, Musk posted, “Rick Scott for Senate Majority Leader!!

McConnell announced last February that he would be retiring from the leadership position, but would continue to hold his Senate seat until his term is up in 2027.

McConnell said at the time, “One of life’s most underappreciated talents is to know when it’s time to move on to life’s next chapter. So I stand before you today … to say that this will be my last term as Republican leader of the Senate.”

A secret ballot to choose a new leader will be cast on Nov. 13.
