Jimmy Kimmel Reads Trump’s Oscars Rant Out Loud Live During Academy Awards: ‘Isn’t It Past Your Jail Time?’

Oscars emcee Jimmy Kimmel read aloud from a rant about his hosting posted by Donald Trump during the live ABC broadcast of the 96th Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday, roasting the former president within minutes of the comments going up on Truth Social.

Kimmel tangles with Republicans and especially Trump frequently on his show and on social media, and has been the object of Trump’s ire before. He has also made famous his “Mean Tweets” bit, where celebrities read mean things said about them by social media users.

In his fourth hosting gig at the Oscars on Sunday, Kimmel opened the show with a shot at Republican Sen. Katie Britt over her State of the Union response last week. And toward the end of the show, Trump posted an angry rant about Kimmel on his Truth Social platform.

After Emma Stone won the Best Actress Oscar for her film Poor Things, Kimmel came back on stage with phone in hand and said, “You know, this this doing this show is not about me. And I appreciate you having me. It’s really about you and, Emma and all these great actors and actresses and filmmakers.”

“But, I was told we have, like, an extra minute. And, I’m really proud of something and I was wondering if I could share it with you. I just got a review, and umm…” he said before reading aloud from Trump.

“Has there EVER been a WORSE HOST than Jimmy Kimmel at The Oscars. His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be,” Trump wrote in his post. “Get rid of Kimmel and perhaps replace him with another washed up, but cheap, ABC ‘talent,’ George Slopanopoulos.”

It went on from there:

After reading the post and pausing for laughs, Kimmel said, “Okay, now see if you can guess which former president just posted that on Truth Social. Anyone? No?”

After another pause for laughter, he continued.

“Well, thank you, President Trump,” said Kimmel. “Thank you for watching. I’m surprised you’re still w– isn’t it past your jail time?”

The Hollywood audience laughed uproariously at the comment and Kimmel added, “He’s focused on the important stuff for sure,” before moving on.
