Charlamagne Tha God Torches Democrats Over Hunter Biden Pardon: ‘Stop Acting Like You’re the Pure Party!’
Radio host Charlamagne Tha God expressed his dismay over President Joe Biden’s pardon of his son Hunter Biden on Monday, rejecting the president’s explanation for his decision and telling the Democratic Party “to stop acting like they are on this moral high ground.”
On Sunday, Biden announced that he had pardoned his son not only for the crimes he had been convicted of and pled guilty to, but for any and all illegal conduct between January 1, 2014 and now, in spite of his previous promises not to do so.
“From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted. Without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form. Those who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions, but paid them back subsequently with interest and penalties, are typically given non-criminal resolutions. It is clear that Hunter was treated differently,” wrote Biden in a statement.
“No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son – and that is wrong,” he continued. “For my entire career I have followed a simple principle: just tell the American people the truth. They’ll be fair-minded. Here’s the truth: I believe in the justice system, but as I have wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice – and once I made this decision this weekend, there was no sense in delaying it further. I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision.”
Reacting to Biden’s decision on Monday, Charlamagne scoffed at some Democrats’ sense of superiority.
“Hunter was singled out because he broke the law. That’s number one. He was singled out because he had an illegal gun and tax evasion charges, not because he was the president’s son,” he began. “And I honestly don’t care, I just want Democrats to stop acting like they are on this moral high ground politically when they have shown us they’re not. You know, whether it’s skipping the primary process when Biden stepped down and things like Biden pardoning his son.”
“Stop acting like you’re the pure party and Republicans aren’t. And it also showed me elected officials can do whatever they want as long as they have the political will and courage to do it,” concluded Charlamagne.
