‘Should We Talk About How I Got the Mayor Indicted?’ Sabrina Carpenter Addresses Report that Her Video Shoot Helped Lead to Eric Adams Indictment
New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) was indicted on federal charges of bribery and corruption, and it might be because of pop star Sabrina Carpenter?
During her show at Madison Square Garden on Sunday night, Carpenter paused between sets to address the audience and said, “Damn, what now? Should we talk about how I got the mayor indicted, or…”
It’s a loose connection, but there was a connection between the “Espresso” singer and the Adams administration. As the New York Post previously reported, the origins of something amiss with the Mayor’s office stemmed from a shoot for Carpenter’s “Feather” video. Parts of it — some especially racy and violent parts — were shot at Brooklyn Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church with permission from Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello, who was dismissed for granting access. But the Monsignor had a close ally in the Adams administration:
Brooklyn diocese officials, when asked by The Post for comment on a subpoena last week seeking information about business dealings between Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello and Adams’ ex-chief of staff Frank Carone, responded with a statement that linked it to an internal investigation over Carpenter’s music video.
“It would be inappropriate to comment further on that review, which is still ongoing,” diocese officials said in a statement to The Post.
Then, in the next breath, they alluded to the federal investigation ensnaring Gigantiello and Carone: “The Diocese is fully committed to cooperating with law enforcement in all investigations, including conduct at individual parishes or involving any priest.”
The Post speculated that this statement hinted that it was the “Feather” video shoot that triggered the federal indictment.
Gigantiello was reprimanded for granting access for the video shoot, though he maintained that he was “not aware that anything provocative was occurring in the church.” The Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church was reportedly “reconsecrated” after the video came out.
Adams pleaded not guilty to all federal charges against him.
