Lara Trump Would ‘Strongly Consider’ Replacing Marco Rubio In Senate: ‘There Have Been Crazier Things the Trumps Have Done!’
Republican National Committee Co-Chair Lara Trump told Fox News on Saturday she’d “strongly consider” taking Sen. Marco Rubio’s (R-FL) place in the Senate now that President-elect Donald Trump has chosen him as his Secretary of State nomination.
Lara Trump joined Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Will Cain to discuss some of her father-in-law’s cabinet picks thus far, one of which includes Cain’s co-host Pete Hegseth. Cain wrapped up the interview by asking Trump about the calls for her to be Rubio’s replacement in the Senate and she said, “there have been crazier things the Trumps have done.”
“Do you want to go be a disruptor in the Senate?” Cain asked.
“Well, you know, there have been been crazier things the Trumps have done in the past, that’s for sure. Look, I was honored to be co-chair of RNC during this time and really historic election. I think that what we did at RNC was part of the big win Donald Trump had and if I’m tapped to serve in another capacity, it truly would be my honor,” Trump said. “I think it would be great to have another young mom alongside Katie Britt there in the United States senate. I have not been asked yet, but I certainly would strongly consider it if it’s presented to me.”
Republican lawmakers Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) have both publicly called for Trump to act as Rubio’s Senate replacement.
Trump has been co-chair of the RNC since March. Rubio’s replacement, to be appointed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), would face a special election in 2026.
