Steve Bannon Tells Trump He Should Have Stuck With Matt Gaetz: ‘You Wouldn’t Even Hear Pete Hegseth’s Name’
Steve Bannon advised President-elect Donald Trump on television that he should have not dropped Matt Gaetz from his cabinet to draw “fire” away from Pete Hegseth and Kash Patel.
Following his nomination to lead the Defense Department, Hegseth has found himself embroiled in scandals regarding allegations of sexual misconduct and alcohol abuse. Trump has vowed to stick with the former Fox News star through the Senate confirmation process.
Last month, Trump’s nomination for Gaetz as attorney general failed after allegations that he slept with a minor began to surface following a House Ethics investigation.
During a Friday airing of Bannon’s WarRoom, the former White House adviser then claimed that if Trump stuck with Gaetz then Hegseth and Patel would be having an easier time in the confirmation process.
We saw this in the first week with Matt Gaetz. I wish and I recommend it. Matt Gaetz stick the whole way. Why? Because of Matt Gaetz had still been in there and going through up to Christmas. He’d be drawing so much fire because they would be freaking out he’d be attorney general. He’d be drawn so much fire you wouldn’t even hear Pete Hegseth’s name. Kash would be gliding into the here. The media, and this is why the concept of contracts always flood the zone, there’s only so much they can handle. First of all, they’re not particularly bright. They’re not particularly hardworking. So you can overwhelm the system quite easily. People say, Bannon, that’s so terrible. Well, hey, that’s just it’s information warfare. They’re doing it all the time, nonstop, relentless. Look at this propaganda they’re putting up on on TV. And he got to fight back.
