Nicolle Wallace Reacts With Disgust to Clip of Pete Hegseth Dodging Question From Fox News Reporter

MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace pulled no punches on Tuesday in slamming Pete Hegseth, Trump’s nominee to lead the Pentagon, after he dodged a question from one of his former Fox News colleagues.

Wallace began the segment by showing her guest Amy McGrath, a retired Marine colonel and former candidate for U.S. Senate, two clips showing Hegseth’s shifting positions.

“His position on women in combat is evolving, if you will. Let me show you that,” Wallace began before showing a clip of Hegseth on a podcast saying:

I’m straight up just saying we should not have women in combat roles. And then, you know, whatever the standards, whatever the combat standards were, say, and I don’t know, 1995, let’s just make those the standards.

Wallace then showed Fox’s Aishah Hasnie asking Hegseth on Capitol Hill, “ Can you just address really quickly — a lot of folks have been up in arms about those comments that you made about women in combat. Do you want to just address it really quickly? How do you feel about the women in combat?”

“We have amazing women who serve in our military. Amazing women,” Hegseth replied.

“Do you think they should be in combat?” Hasnie pressed.

“I think they’re already in combat,” Hegseth replied, not answering the question.

Wallace reacted with disgust and added, “I’m not sure that the path to nomination winds its way through non-answers like that, but that’s where we are, Amy?”

“Well, I mean, I think he sees the writing in the wall that this is an issue that, you know, women have been serving in combat and lots of people see that. And it’s not a winning issue for him, despite his personal beliefs. But I’ll tell you, his misconduct, this is something that everybody in America should really know,” McGrath replied, adding:

This attitude of all boys will be boys. And he’s a combat vet. So, you know, cut him some slack for the rape allegations and the massive alcohol abuse. That kind of behavior, Nicolle would get him to a non-promotion status within the military. And now they want him to lead the Department of Defense. He would not even be promoted with that kind of background in the military. It’s it’s really hypocrisy and a terrible example to set for our troops.
