‘It’s Embarrassing!’ Ex-Freedom Caucus Chair and Newsmax Host Agree House Republicans Have ‘Zero Accomplishments’

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), the former chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, took his party to task on Thursday while appearing on Newsmax with host Chris Salcedo.

Salcedo and Biggs spent most of the interview discussing the border crisis and slamming Democrats like NYC Mayor Eric Adams on the issue. Salcedo then ended the interview “with one last question” and began by noting that Republicans held the majority in the House for all of 2023 “and have thus far been complete failures at adhering to the law, the passing of 12 appropriation bills by June of last year.”

“So just a very simple question, Congressman, how many of those 12 bills have been completed?” Salcedo asked about the House appropriations process.

“None. None. None have been completed,” replied Biggs, adding:

They’ve been, uh, a few of them. A seven, I think, have been sent to the Senate from the House. The Senate has not taken up a single one of those bills. So the answer is. And this is what, this is what some of us have been saying. How do you campaign on the trust of the American people when what you’ve done… Is you failed on continuing to fund this goofy Ukraine, this outrageous Ukraine, uh, debacle that’s going on. Um, and you are going to guess what? They’re going to try and do a supplemental.

They’re going to claim that they’re going to reduce their, uh, spending by $60 billion, and they’re going to acquiesce on a supplemental that’s 105 billion. So the net will be about a $55 billion spend more than last year. We have nothing, in my opinion. We have nothing to go out there and campaign on. Chris. It’s embarrassing!

Salcedo laughed out loud as Biggs concluded and quickly agreed, “Right. Well, I know the Republican Party, the Republican Party in the Congress, the majority has zero accomplishments. Now, of course, the Democrats get to say, hey, they get to go to their left-wing voters and say, hey, we’ve destroyed America just like we promised. Thank you, Congressman Andy Biggs, thank you very much. Appreciate the time, sir.”

Biggs’s sentiment echoed Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) who gave a barn burner of a speech in November 2023 railing against the House Republican majority for not delivering on any of its agenda items.
