‘I Would Have Raised My Hand’: House Republican Says He Wanted to See Hunter Biden Testify Yesterday When Democrats Offered
Republican Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) joined Fox News’s Harris Faulkner on Thursday to discuss Hunter Biden crashing a House hearing the day before and the chaotic scene that unfolded.
“Boy, we could talk for hours with what you are doing. Um, but you were in the room. You were in the hearing room as all of this was playing out. What is the fallout very next day, today?” Faulkner asked.
“Well, I think, uh, I’ve come to the conclusion that the Democrats want us to not call him at all,” Biggs replied, referring to Hunter Biden’s testifying before Congress.
“Um, but they keep saying they want him to testify publicly. And I’m almost to the point where you say you want him to testify publicly. Let’s have him come and testify,” Biggs clarified, adding:
No privileges, no scope. We’ll just do it. And guess what? You’ll take the fifth, uh, probably 200 times, because we have a lot to ask him. But, uh, what a way to show contempt, Harris. I mean, he, he’s the first one out and had the press conference same time. He’s supposed to be giving the deposition, and then he comes into the hearing to ostensibly say, here I am to testify. And yet when somebody in our committee starts asking him questions directly, boom, he is up and he is out.
“Yeah. That first time he defied it was all the way back in December. And then he shows up just before the deadline and there he is. Look, quick question for you, because there was a time when there, a show of hands was asked by one of the Democrats, who in here wants to hear from Hunter Biden? Why didn’t Republicans raise their hands? And why not just read, you know, just start the process right then and there before the whole country with two committees watching?” Faulkner asked.
“Well, I was probably in the other committee when that would have happened. I would have raised my hand,” Biggs replied, breaking with his colleagues from the day before.
“I want to hear from Hunter. Seriously, I think all my colleagues do as well. Um, but that was just gamesmanship on the part of the Democrats. The Democrats, you spent eight hours yesterday and they didn’t really want to talk about Hunter Biden and what was contempt where he actually got a subpoena and didn’t come. They just wanted to distract from it. Talk about everything else,” Biggs concluded.
“Well, the White House didn’t want to talk about it either,” Faulkner agreed.
