Chris Wallace Panelists Clash Over Harris’s Lack of Interviews: ‘The Right All Of a Sudden Embracing the Free Press!’
Panelists on CNN’s The Chris Wallace Show clashed on Saturday over Vice President Kamala Harris’s lack of press conferences and interviews since moving to the top of the Democratic Party’s ticket.
National Review’s Jim Geraghty dissed Harris’s economic proposals made on Friday — which include a New York Times reporter Lulu Garcia-Navarro said, jumping in. “I’m very excited about this as a journalist. I think it’s wonderful everyone, including Donald Trump, is pushing for Kamala Harris to do this. I agree. I think she should do a press conference. I think she should sit down for an interview, but it’s a little disingenuous for some on the right to do this!”
“No it’s not! When has it ever been — Donald Trump will do interviews with anybody,” Geraghty snapped back.
“That’s not true,” Garcia-Navarro said while Geraghty continued by arguing Trump has provided far more “access” to the press than both Harris and President Joe Biden.
“He went to the National Association of Black Journalists [convention] and she didn’t. Does he do a lot of interviews with the amen corner at Fox News? Yes, no doubt about that. But he’ll sit down, he’ll kibitz with reporters,” he said. “He does a lot more access than either Joe Biden has done for the last four years or Kamala Harris since she’s become the nominee.”
