‘There Can Be Only One!’ CNN Analyst Predicts Highlander-Style Ending for Trump / Musk Relationship
CNN’s Kara Swisher predicted President-elect Donald Trump will grow “irritated” with an “attention”-hungry Elon Musk, leading to a Highlander-style showdown.
On Saturday’s The Chris Wallace Show, Swisher focused her final thoughts on the show on Trump and Musk’s relationship. A recent report from Axios suggested Musk joined Trump for a call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which Swisher called “insane.”
“I will repeat what I said about Elon Musk and Trump. One of my favorite moves is highlander and there can be only one and that will be Trump. We will see what happens in the wake of that,” Swisher said.
In 1986’s Highlander, Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert) is an immortal battling against fellow immortal Kurgan (Clancy Brown) for “The Prize,” which can only be won if one of them cuts the other’s head off. “There can be only one” is the most famous line from Ricky Bobby’s favorite movie.
Host Chris Wallace on Saturday added to Swisher’s point, arguing Musk is pulling attention away from Trump similar to how Steve Bannon did at the beginning of his 2016 administration. Wallace pulled up a Time magazine cover of Bannon just months after Trump’s victory, arguing people are asking similar questions about Musk’s role in the White House and his influence over Trump.
“I remember thinking, the boss is not going to like that,” he said.
“And in comparison for the need for attention between Bannon and Musk, Bannon looks like a kitty cat,” Swisher said. “Elon needs a lot of attention and Trump will be irritated by that.”
Swisher predicted earlier this week on CNN that Musk and Trump will eventually merge their social media platforms X and Truth Social.
