Chris Wallace Guest Compares Republicans Dressing Like Trump To Saddam Hussein’s Lackeys And Their ‘Big Mustaches’

A guest on CNN’s The Chris Wallace Show took some heat when she compared the Republicans who flocked to Manhattan for the Trump trial wearing the “Trump uniform” of blue suit and red tie, to Iraqi President Saddam Hussein’s lackeys from the early 2000s.

Chris Wallace set up the conversation by describing what he called “The Trump Posse.”

“Twenty-one Republicans, including members of Congress and state officials who showed up at the trial this week, many of them wearing the same outfit the former president usually wears. Trump calls them, ‘his surrogates,'” Wallace said.

After playing video of House Speaker Mike Johnson, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Doug Burgum in their blue suits, Wallace asked The New York Times’ Lulu Garcia-Navarro, “Whore wore the Trump uniform best?”

“I mean, Vivek Ramaswamy said a true thing here, which is, this is not the United States of America. Since when is it in the United States of America that people have to wear the Trump uniform in order to show fealty and loyalty? This reminds me of Saddam Hussein and the ‘good old days’ when you had the big mustache, when they were sitting around the table — ”

“Oh, come on,” protested conservative journalist Kristin Soltis Anderson.

Garcia-Navarro shot back, “Oh, come on, come on! It was a joke, it was a joke.”

She continued, “But to be clear, the idea that you are having to dress up as this man in order to show how close you are to him, how much you care for him is embarrassing.”

Anderson said, “I’ve sat in a lot of rooms with a lot of Republican politicians that have looked just like that.”

Wallace objected, “Oh, please! You think it was just a coincidence that they showed up in dark blue suit, white shirt, and red tie?”

“It wouldn’t necessarily surprise me,” Anderson said.

Kara Swisher then lightened the mood.

“I just was telling Chris, I was going to wear a suit like this today and just wander around behind him ’cause I fully support Chris Wallace.”
