George Conway argued Donald Trump is benefitting in the polls right now because voters have “seen less of him” and “forgotten” why they don’t like him.

The conservative lawyer and vocal Trump critic told MeidasTouch in a Wednesday interview that the former president’s hush money trial in Manhattan benefitted him and if other trials kicked off before November’s election, those could too.

“One of the advantages that Trump has had is we’ve seen less of him. One of the reasons I think the race seems closer than it will ultimately be is that people have forgotten about Trump. They’ve forgotten the reasons they didn’t like him,” Conway said.

The lawyer and pundit called Trump “off the rails” and “much sicker” than in past elections, citing a rant about sharks the president made at a recent campaign rally in Nevada.

“He’s really off the rails and people need to see that,” Conway said. “One of the disadvantages of the most recent trial is it delayed the moment [voters] see him for real and I think that’s going to change with the debate and the conventions.”

Conway argued it “may not be the worst thing” to have Trump’s other trials moved to next year when he would not be a political candidate (assuming he loses to President Joe Biden).

During a Daily Show appearance last week, Conway recommended liberals not get so “mad” at Trump and instead repeatedly brand him “crazy.”

“What needs to be done is that needs to be talked about openly,” he said. “It needs to be pointed out, when he is doing things that meet those criteria, and it’s got to be pointed out — and it drives him nuts when people do that.”
