Bill Maher and Megyn Kelly Throw Down After She Suggests Dems Will Be 2024 Election Deniers: ‘There’s No Evidence of That!’
Bill Maher and Megyn Kelly got into a heated debate on Friday during a back-and-forth on former President Donald Trump and the election.
Kelly joined Maher’s Real Time and Maher pressed the former Fox News host on why she is backing Trump, a man she’s been critical of in the past. Maher also argued there would no doubt be election “denialism” by Trump if he does not win.
“I mean, you’ve even said it that if Trump wins, there will definitely be denialism. I mean, he’s only going to say one of two things about loses. If he loses, there’s only healing with the say it was rigged or it was the most perfect, beautiful election ever,” Maher said.
Kelly countered by arguing Democrats will present the same challenges and theories if Vice President Kamala Harris loses, though she agreed with Maher’s assessment of Trump’s potential reaction to a loss.
“Well, don’t think there won’t be denialism if Kamala Harris loses,” Kelly said.
“It won’t be the same,” Maher countered.
“Okay, But there’s going to be. I mean, they’re already laying the foundation for law fare, or we’re going to be stuck in this election one way or the other, no matter who wins, for weeks,” Kelly shot back.
“Well, there’s no evidence of that. Democrats have never done that. They’ve conceded,” Maher said.
Kelly immediately fired back, noting she and Maher have had this “fight” before. Kelly called Hillary Clinton the “original election denier,” which Maher dismissed. Clinton previously called Trump an “illegitimate president” following her loss to him in 2016.
“Come on, man!” Maher said. “It’s different grumbling. Yes, they grumbled when they shouldn’t and maybe it goes over the line. There’s a difference between grumbling about something and actually trying to overturn it like he did. I mean, you know this. Why do we have to go through this?”
“Legal challenges in response to an election, which is what Trump did, and he lost and he did wind up leaving office. I’m not going to defend his behavior on January 6th. I never have,” Kelly said. “And I’m not going to start tonight. But if you don’t think there’s going to be denialism on the Dem side, you have been paying attention to what’s been happening on that side for these years.”
