Trump Refuses to Answer Question on Whether He Regrets Comments About Bush Family

President Donald Trump refused to answer a question Saturday on whether he regrets his harsh comments aimed at the Bush family in light of George H.W. Bush‘s death.

Taking questions from reporters at the G20 summit in Argentina, Trump was asked: “Do you regret any of your comments about Bush or the family in the past?”

The president listened to the question, then turned away from the reporter and said, “Thank you very much everybody.”

Trump nixed a planned press conference at the G20 following the passing of Bush at the age of 94 on Friday night. He also issued a statement praising the former president’s “unflappable leadership.”

“President George H.W. Bush led a long, successful and beautiful life,” Trump wrote on Twitter Saturday. “Whenever I was with him I saw his absolute joy for life and true pride in his family. His accomplishments were great from beginning to end. He was a truly wonderful man and will be missed by all!”

Trump’s history with the Bush family has been contentious. Recently, Trump took to mocking Bush’s famous “a thousand points of light” phrase from his inaugural address — which Trump made reference to in his statement on the former president’s death.

“What the hell was that, by the way, thousand points of light?” Trump asked a rally crowd earlier this year. “What did that mean? Does anyone know? I know one thing: Make America Great Again, we understand. Putting America first, we understand. Thousand points of light, I never quite got that one.”
