‘She Knows Better!’ Fox & Friends Ridicules Liz Cheney and Drudge Over ‘Totally Irresponsible’ Reaction to Trump’s ‘Guns at Her Face’ Comment

The hosts of Fox & Friends went to bat for former President Donald Trump on Friday morning, blasting Liz Cheney and Matt Drudge for what they deemed a “totally irresponsible” interpretation of Trump’s comments about Cheney during a Thursday night event hosted by Tucker Carlson.

At the event, Trump blasted Cheney as “stupid” and a “warhawk,” before suggesting that she’d behave differently if there were guns “shooting at her.” Referring to Cheney as “a very dumb individual,” he then said, “She’s a radical war hawk. Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrel shooting at her. Okay. Let’s see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained on her face.”

Trump’s comments have set off a firestorm just days before the presidential election.

For her part, Cheney did not take the comments lightly, posting her retort on social media. “This is how dictators destroy free nations. They threaten those who speak against them with death,” she wrote. “We cannot entrust our country and our freedom to a petty, vindictive, cruel, unstable man who wants to be a tyrant.”

On Friday, the hosts of Fox & Friends came to Trump’s defense.

“So he was just talking about how she is a warhawk. And would you have the same point of view if she was actually at war?” explained Brian Kilmeade before reading Trump’s statement aloud.

“So to me, I get totally the context of that,” Kilmeade said. “Tucker had an event. He joined Tucker’s event. Tucker is doing live shows all across the country, and he was asked about one of his chief critics who’s campaigning against him. So people are portraying it as if he’s saying Dick Cheney should be in front of a firing squad assassinate, be shot or assassinated. Obviously, you can you understand Trump You understand the context. That is not the story. But Drudge is leading…”

“There’s a ton of Americans that support this point of view,” Lawrence Jones added. “I do think that is ironic right now when the Democratic Party is dealing with all these comments from the surrogate that they’re trying to grasp for something from the former president to say he’s calling for the assassination of, listen, I don’t think anyone really believes so.”

After Steve Doocy read Liz Cheney’s comments in reaction, Kilmeade said “She knows better. So they’re going to try to make the most of this.”

Shortly after a mocked-up screen shot of the Drudge Report homepage was shown, to which Kilmeade harrumphed” Totally irresponsible.”

“And that was we saw this about an hour ago, right? I mean, two hours ago, I thought to myself, what is it? I clicked on. I go, this is a waste of time because I already saw the soundbite before the show started,” continued Kilmeade. “And it’s just two people talking about I don’t want to go to war.”
