University of Florida Basketball Coach Accused of Stalking and Harassing ‘Undefined’ Number of Women
University of Florida men’s basketball head coach Todd Golden has been accused of sexual harassment and stalking by an “undefined” number of women.
According to Title IX documents obtained by campus newspaper The Alligator, the university received a complaint against Golden on Sept. 27. Included in the complaint were allegations of “sexual exploitation, sexual harassment and stalking.” The 39-year-old “specifically aimed these behaviors toward UF students,” according to the complaint.
In an interview with The Alligator, one of the women claimed Golden stalked her in his car and on foot “more than 10 times.” Golden also allegedly sent her unsolicited photos of his genitalia. The report continued:
“At first, it starts off slow, like, ‘Oh, wow. That’s odd. This guy is showing us attention,'” the first woman said. “And then it becomes, ‘Wow, he’s kind of crossing a line. No, he didn’t mean it that way.’ Then it’s, ‘Wait, he’s fully stepping over that line.’ And then it’s, ‘Wow, there’s a picture of his d*ck.’ It was a full grooming process with all of us.”
The woman also accused Golden of liking multiple Instagram posts of hers at once — often scrolling down her page to like older photos. Then, he’d follow it up with a direct message. She described the behavior as “really aggressive Instagram stalking.”
A second woman told The Alligator that Golden would refer to women as “his drug” or “his good luck charm” before games. She added that he would send messages like that to multiple women.
The first woman also believes Golden’s not alone in his treatment of female students.
“I think it is just a sick f*cking joke that they’re all doing, within that organization, all the coaches,” she said. “They probably get off by showing each other the pictures… There’s something f*cking sick going on there.”
A spokesperson told The Alligator that, in order to comply with federal, the university cannot comment on or confirm Title IX inquiries.
