Watch Trump Awkwardly Sit with Jill and Ashley Biden at Reopening of Notre Dame in Paris
First Lady Jill Biden and President-elect Donald Trump were awkwardly seated just feet away from each other Saturday evening in Paris for the grand reopening of the Notre Dame Cathedral.
The building had been closed since April 2019 when a fire devastated the historic site. While President Joe Biden did not travel to France, the first lady was present Saturday.
She and and Trump were seated with only French President Emmanuel Macron’s wife Brigitte Macron separating them.
In a video circulating of the event, the outgoing first lady and the incoming president did not appear to interact.
Jill Biden referred to Trump as “evil” in July while campaigning for her husband just a week before he suspended his reelection bid.
“Does Donald Trump know anything about military families,” she told a crowd in Georgia. “No. … He disparages those who sacrifice for our country. His own chief of staff, said he called POWs and those who died in war losers and suckers. He’s evil.” She added:
But it’s not surprising. Donald Trump wakes up every morning thinking about one person and one person only: himself! We know what Donald Trump was like as commander-in-chief, and it could be worse this time. Last week, the Supreme Court ruled that there are virtually no limits on what a president can do. Our democracy cannot withstand a Trump presidency with virtually no limits.
Trump’s barbs at the Bidens are well-documented.
The president-elect touched down in Paris Saturday afternoon where he was greeted by the Macrons.
