Fox News Guests Explode Into Screaming Match After Tucker Carlson Gets Called a Conspiracy Theorist: ‘He Is, and You Are!’
Former White House Director of Strategic Communications Mercedes Schlapp and Democratic strategist Chris Hahn had a major clash on Fox News after the latter called Tucker Carlson a conspiracy theorist.
The two joined Gillian Turner on Tuesday to discuss the idea of a system to keep track of which Americans have been vaccinated against the coronavirus. The Biden administration is currently exploring a possible system to accomplish this, and there are ongoing debates as state governments consider issuing “vaccine passports” or similar kinds of official documentation.
Schlapp used the discussion to attack the “illogical mentality of the left” for supporting vaccine passports while opposing Republican-led efforts to restrict voting rights. Hahn countered that the concept is being primarily driven by the private sector, not the Biden administration, but his primary retort was “Republicans, like everything else they’ve done during this horrible crisis we’ve been through, are pushing these conspiracy theories that the government is trying to control you, which is causing some of their followers not to get vaccinated.”
Hahn named Schlapp and Carlson among those guilty of pushing these types of conspiracy theories and endangering public health.
“Chris, I am not gonna take this from you,” Schlapp shouted back. “You are not gonna call me a liar! You are not gonna call me a conspiracy theorist. You are not gonna call Tucker Carlson a conspiracy theorist!”
“He is!” Hahn retorted. “He is, and you are.”
“This is what the Democrats do!” Schlapp went on. “They keep calling us names, we’re not put up with this! I stand for freedom! I stand for the freedom of the American people every single day!”
“No, you don’t. You’re a grifter” Hahn said. “This is ridiculous.”
Turner interjected to tell her guests to quit the name-calling, but the shouting match kept going until she focused the segment toward the Biden administration’s interest in the passport idea. The segment ended with Hahn further defending the initiative and saying once more that Republicans are slamming Biden for this because they “have no way to attack” him except by discouraging vaccinations.
The slugfest comes after Carlson used his show to undermine public trust in covid vaccines, and he’s also blasting the idea of vaccine passports as “Orwellian.”
