Nancy Pelosi Claims Pro-Palestinian Ceasefire Protesters Are Backed By Russia; Calls for FBI to Investigate

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) called for the FBI to investigate pro-Palestinian protesters — suggesting they might be financially backed by the Russians.

Dana Bash spoke with the congresswoman on Sunday’s State of the Union, and after discussing the current state of the 2024 election, the CNN anchor turned to the ongoing protests against Israel’s handling of the war in Gaza against Hamas. Since President Joe Biden has been repeatedly heckled by progressive activists in recent weeks, Bash asked Pelosi if she was concerned about those people sitting out the 2024 election in a rematch between Biden and Donald Trump.

Recalling her own encounters with protesters demanding a Gaza ceasefire, Pelosi answered “What we have to do is try to stop the suffering [there].” She then added that “For them to call for a cease-fire is Mr. Putin’s message.”

“Make no mistake,” she continued. “This is directly connected to what he would like to see. Same thing with Ukraine. It’s about Putin’s message. I think some of these protesters are spontaneous and organic and sincere. Some are connected to Russia, and I say that having looked at this for a long time.”

“You think some of these protests are Russian plants?” Bash asked.

“I think some financing should be investigated, and I want to ask the FBI to investigate that,” Pelosi answered. She went on by predicting that younger voters will eventually back Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris when they consider the other issues that will be at stake in the election.
