Piers Morgan Torches Dick Cheney’s ‘Utterly Ridiculous’ Endorsement of Harris: ‘People Get So Completely Demented About Trump’
Piers Morgan ripped into former Vice President Dick Cheney and his “utterly ridiculous” endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris.
Morgan reacted to Cheney’s endorsement during a Tuesday appearance on Fox & Friends. The British journalist called Cheney’s announcement “completely preposterous” considering what a hawkish Republican Cheney is and what a progressive Democrat Harris is.
“Every part of this is completely preposterous,” Morgan said, calling Harris a “hypocrite” too for embracing the endorsement of a man once referred to as Darth Vader by many liberal critics.
Cheney supported former President Donald Trump in 2016, but he has since become a critic, ripping Trump as a “coward” during the 2022 midterms. In a statement on his new endorsement of Harris, Cheney claimed no individual posed a greater threat to democracy than Trump.
Cheney’s daughter, Liz Cheney, is also backing Harris in November’s election, as she’s been an even more vocal critic of Trump and his actions surrounding the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. She served on the congressional subcommittee that investigated Trump over the incident.
Both Cheneys, Morgan argued, are “completely demented” over Trump and suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
“This is about Trump Derangement Syndrome. We’ve discussed this for many years. People get so completely demented about Trump, as you see with Liz Cheney and now with Dick Cheney, that they will literally abdicate all of their own principles to do something, which is other than support Trump,” Morgan said.
The endorsements make no sense considering Harris’s progressive politics, he added, but some conservatives are willing to do anything if it means standing in opposition to Trump.
“It makes no sense and it is indicative of a mindset of some people on the conservative side where they will literally do anything, even if it destroys their principles, to do anything but support Trump, and I think that’s ridiculous,” Morgan said.
