Trump Demands Authorities ‘Immediately’ Investigate People Spreading ‘Rumors’ About Truth Social: ‘STATEMENTS ARE FALSE’
President-Elect Donald Trump called for “authorities” to investigate those spreading rumors about him selling Truth Social.
Since defeating Vice President Kamala Harris, online rumors have spread that Trump would sell off Truth Social or merge it with billionaire Elon Musk’s X, formerly Twitter. However, on Friday afternoon, Trump tried to dispel those rumors, vowing to keep the online platform created in the aftermath of his 2021 ban from Twitter.
Moreover, Trump claimed that any reports that he was selling shares of Truth Social are “probably illegal rumors” and requested “the appropriate authorities” immediately investigate the matter.
“There are fake, untrue, and probably illegal rumors and/or statements made by, perhaps, market manipulators or short sellers, that I am interested in selling shares of Truth,” Trump wrote before going on an all-caps rant. “THOSE RUMORS OR STATEMENTS ARE FALSE. I HAVE NO INTENTION OF SELLING!”
According to Business Insider, following Trump’s statement shares of Trump Media went up by around 15% by late Friday afternoon.
The president-elect concluded, “I hereby request that the people who have set off these fake rumors or statements, and who may have done so in the past, be immediately investigated by the appropriate authorities. Truth is an important part of our historic win, and I deeply believe in it. Thank you for your attention to this matter. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
