Daily Show’s John Leguizamo Angrily Smashes a Piñata After Admitting Trump’s ‘Lazy A** Strategy’ Is Winning Over Latino Voters

Comedian John Leguizamo took to demolishing a piñata with his fists on The Daily Show after acknowledging that Donald Trump’s “lazy ass strategy” to win over Latino voters is working.

On Tuesday’s Daily Show, Leguizamo mocked Trump’s efforts to reach Latino voters, including using a recycled campaign ad. The comedian admitted though that it’s all working in Trump’s favor.

“The thing that hurts me the most is that his lazy ass strategy is actually working,” he said, showing a New York Times/Siena College poll from February showing Trump leading President Joe Biden among Latino voters, 46% to 40%.

Trump saw a five point bump in that poll from December.

“Excuse me for a second please,” Leguizamo said.

He then pulled out a piñata and punched it and ripped it in half while yelling in Spanish.

After throwing the piñata, Leguizamo took a more verbal approach to expressing his shock in Trump’s support among Latino voters.

“It looks like the Democrats are in trouble. And you might be thinking, how is this possible? Donald Trump is winning Latinos? ‘Build the Wall’ Donald Trump? ‘Mass Deportations’ Donald Trump?” he said.

The comedian and actor, who has appeared in films like John Wick and The Pest, then referenced a poll finding a majority of Latino voters are most concerned about inflation and the cost of living.

Leguizamo mocked Trump for previously saying part of his strategy to fix inflation would be to “drill, baby, drill” and for selling $400 gold sneakers while campaigning.

“If your top concern is high prices, I get why you might lean Trump. People associate him with lower prices even though he sells $400 sneakers like look like my cousin Papo’s teeth,” Leguizamo said.

The comedian added, “You really believe Trump can fix inflation? Look, I’m here to tell you hell-madre-fucking-nah.”
