Charlamagne Tha God Roasts Republicans Calling Kamala Harris DEI Hire — Credits ‘Affirmative Action’ for Tim Walz Hire

Charlamagne Tha God roasted Republicans referring to Vice President Kamala Harris as a “DEI hire” and pointed to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) as the true beneficiary of “affirmative action.”

Charlamagne guest hosted The Daily Show on Wednesday and played a series of clips of political analysts pointing out Walz’s race — including Scott Mitchell calling him an “old White dude” — and a “balancing choice” for Harris as running mate.

“Thanks to affirmative action, there is an old White guy on the Democratic ticket for the first time in about 17 days! I’m glad White men are finally getting their moment in the sun; just make sure to wear enough SPF,” Charlamagne said.

The Breakfast Club host argued Republicans are the ones making DEI — standing for diversity, equality, and inclusion — all about race.

“According to Republicans, Tim Walz isn’t the DEI hire because to them, every letter in DEI actually stands for the same thing: Black, Black, Black!” he said, then playing clips of conservatives like Charlie Kirk and Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) calling Harris a “DEI hire.”

“This argument is so stupid to me. If being a woman or a minority was the golden ticket to getting ahead in politics then President Andrew Yang would have already done universal basic income President Kanye West would have already changed the national anthem to Gold Digger,” Charlamagne joked.

He added that even Donald Trump benefitted from his race.

“I’m just saying Donald Trump would not have gotten the job if his first name was Donnell,” Charlamagne said.

He acknowledged Republicans’ argument that Harris has not done much as vice president, though Charlamagne argued being non-newsworthy is exactly the job description for a vice president.

“Kamala has done a great job as vice president. Remember that one big thing she did? Me neither!” he said. “And that’s exactly what you want in a VP, someone who doesn’t make the news.”
