Ana Navarro Mockingly Calls Pam Bondi ‘One of the Better Picks’ Trump Made Because ‘She Hasn’t Been Accused of Sexual Assault’

CNN’s Ana Navarro offered some backhanded compliments to former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, whom President-elect Donald Trump nominated to be U.S. attorney general.

Trump gave Bondi the nod on Thursday after Matt Gaetz withdrew his name from consideration hours earlier. Gaetz had been under investigation by the Department of Justice and the House Ethics Committee over an allegation he had sex with a 17-year-old girl. The DOJ declined to prosecute, and the committee has declined to release its findings after Gaetz resigned from Congress last week. The former congressman denies wrongdoing.

“I know Pam Bondi very well,” Navarro said on Thursday’s AC360 on CNN. “Pam Bondi, like many other Republicans, is a mainstream Republican who turned MAGA.”

Navarro proceeded to rattle off several things Bondi has not been accused of. In doing so, she alluded to Gaetz, Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth, and Secretary of Health and Human Services nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr.:

I will tell you, she is not an ogre. She is not a jerk. She’s not a person who purposely wants to come across as being the kind of person that Matt Gaetz wants to come across as being. She has been an early loyalist of Donald Trump back in the 2016 primaries. She was a loyalist of him even though Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio were running. I think with Pam Bondi, he gets loyalty, which matters a lot to him.

And she hasn’t committed statutory rape or been accused of it. She hasn’t been accused of sexual assault. She hasn’t sawed the head off a whale or stabbed a dead bear cub. So, all in all, I’d say she’s one of the better picks.

Hegseth, a former Fox News host, was accused of sexual assault by a woman in 2017. Authorities did not bring charges and Hegseth, who denies wrongdoing, reportedly paid off the woman. Kennedy has also been accused of sexual assault and promoted baseless medical claims, including the theory that vaccines cause autism and that HIV does not cause AIDS. Moreover, he has admitted to dropping off a dead bear cub in Central Park, and he reportedly decapitated a dead whale before strapping the head to the roof of his car to take home.

Trump himself was found liable for sexual assault in 2023 and for defaming his victim.
