‘Completely Delusional’: Joe Scarborough Mocks Pro-MAGA Pundits Who Believe Trump Felony Convictions Will Help Him

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough dismissed pundits in the media and members of Donald Trump’s team as “completely delusional” for arguing that his felony convictions actually give him an advantage going into November.

On Tuesday’s Morning Joe, Scarborough said he’d heard from people in the “media orbit” the belief that Trump is benefitted by his conviction on more than 30 felony counts in Manhattan related to falsifying business records. The former president continues to deny any wrongdoing as he faces sentencing on July 11.

Anybody who believes the felony convictions are a benefit to Trump is living in a “bubble,” Scarborough argued.

“They think 34 felony convictions is great for Donald Trump, great for fundraising, firing up the base, man, people are going to do whatever it takes to vote…it fires up his 44%, his 43%, you know? And the ceiling may be 46%, 47%, but they actually believe it,” he said.

Scarborough does not believe Trump buys into the same line of thinking about his convictions.

“Trump knows better than to believe that this is something that he wants, but there are people around him that have convinced themselves living in bubbles that these 34 felony convictions were the greatest political advance for Trump in some time, and they’re just completely delusional,” he said.

Jonathan Lemire argued Trump’s frequent Truth Social posts railing against his conviction and what he claims is a “rigged” justice system if part of the proof the former president does not see long-term good news in the convictions.

“I’ve talked to people around him. He doesn’t want to go to prison, he didn’t want to be convicted. They had convinced themselves they’d at least get a hung jury,” Lemire said. “They were surprised by the verdict, particularly that it was unanimous.”

The Trump campaign announced shortly after Trump’s verdict that they’d received a “record shattering” windfall of donations totaling nearly $35 million.
