George Conway Equates Trump’s ‘Doubling Down On Unreality’ to Hitler Losing it in the ‘Führer Bunker’ Before His Demise
Conservative lawyer George Conway hit out at former President Donald Trump for “doubling down on unreality” in reaction to the Republican nominee’s post pushing the false claim that Democratic rival Kamala Harris was faking her crowd sizes using AI technology.
In a post on his platform TruthSocial on Sunday, Trump parroted the conspiracy theory circulating on MAGA accounts online that claimed Harris fabricated images of the crowd sizes at her rally in Michigan on Aug. 7. The claim was easily debunked with live news footage from the event.
Morning Joe co-host Jonathan Lemire asked Conway about the post on Monday, saying that he had “triple-checked it to make sure it was a real post” before commenting on it over the weekend.
The lawyer and vocal critic of the former president compared Trump’s “delusional” post to the actions of Nazi German dictator Adolf Hitler, who, in his last days before defeat in World War II, hiding in his bunker in Berlin, ordered military units into battle that no longer existed. Conway said that the post was an indication of Trump’s disconnect from reality, remarking: “He has completely lost it.”
As I’ve been yammering about for five or six years now, he’s a deeply unwell man. He is a deeply psychologically disturbed individual. If he were a member of your family, you’d be taking him, you’d be staging an intervention and taking him into a psychiatric hospital. If Melania and Ivanka and Eric and Don Jr. care about their father, their father and husband, and I assume they do, they’d be doing that if they could.
He is, as I’ve been saying, a narcissistic sociopath, a pathological narcissist and sociopath as defined by the American psychiatric association. These are, historians will tell you, the traits of authoritarian dictators throughout history. What we’re seeing now is, as you put it, an implosion. This, I believe, is what ultimately was always going to happen. The final implosion of Donald Trump. I mean, it’s like hitler when hitler was moving around divisions that didn’t exist in the last ten days of the war in the Führer bunker. He has completely lost it. This post is beyond question, delusional.
Conway added that Trump’s desperation was connected to his realization that failing to win the election may result in him going to prison after having been charged in his New York hush money trial.
It was also inevitable because what’s happening here is he realizes he’s gotten under more pressure than ever because he’s not just running for the presidency. He is running for his freedom. He’s going to go to jail if he does not win the presidency, and he can see that now. That’s why he’s doubling down on the unreality. It is partly for self-soothing. Partly, he can’t help it. He is a pathological liar, being a sociopath. What we are watching is it shall I mean, we’ll make fun of it because it provokes him into self-destruction, which is what the country needs, but it is actually very, very sad.
