Jon Stewart Goes Old School Daily Show and Tells Dick Cheney To ‘F**k Off’ After Harris Endorsement
Jon Stewart channeled The Daily Show circa 2004 by repeatedly telling former Vice President Dick Cheney to “fuck off” in his post-debate coverage on Tuesday.
While breaking down the debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, Stewart took a few moments to cut away and insult the former vice president and his endorsement of Harris. Stewart was a vocal critic of Cheney and former President George W. Bush in the early 2000s.
“Oh, I’m sorry, also, fuck off, Dick Cheney,” Stewart said in the middle of his debate coverage.
Cheney, along with his daughter Liz Cheney, recently backed Harris. Harris said she was honored to have the Republicans’ endorsement, while Trump blasted the pair as irrelevant.
“Fuck off. Seriously, fuck off! You came this close to destroying the entire world! We were this close, closer than a teenage boy’s pants at — no! I’m not going to have any fun with this,” Stewart said on Tuesday.
Stewart roasted the endorsement, asking what kind of voter would be convinced which way to vote by Cheney jumping ship to Democrats.
“And by the way, who in God’s name is that endorsement going to sway?” he asked.
Stewart argued that Harris “crushed it” at the ABC News debate but also dismissed the event as a potential wash for both candidates.
“What I think is a home-run answer for one candidate, someone else views as a dodge or a lie or any of those other things. In some ways, it doesn’t matter what they say anymore, but one thing will always be true, and it is the quality of the former president I respect the least,” Stewart said. “Whenever [Trump] is cornered and forced to face even the smallest of consequences for his own mendacity and scheming, he reverts to the greatest refuge of scoundrels. As Shaggy would say: ‘It wasn’t me. I do nothing wrong. I just showed up. They’re the ones who went crazy.'”
