Ex-Jill Biden Aide Tells Kellyanne: It’ll Take ‘A Lot More Than Blind Quotes and 5 Members of Congress to Push Them Out’

Fox announced a new show on Fox Nation with Republican strategist and former advisor to former President Donald Trump, Kellyanne Conway, at the helm, entitled Here’s the Deal with Kellyanne Conway, and her first guest is a former insider of the Biden administration.

Michael LaRosa, former press secretary for First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, was the first to sit in the hot seat opposite Conway. He shared how he saw President Joe Biden and his closest circle operate, and offered insight into the conversations they might be having as more of Biden’s allies call for him to end his reelection campaign.

Conway asked LaRosa if he had noticed a visible decline in the president:

Conway: Does anything surprise you over the last couple of weeks, watching Joe Biden in that debate stage and taking a trip down memory lane. Just not even selected clips, this is Joe Biden on the daily. Flubbing, mumbling, stumbling, bumbling, fumbling. I want to feel sorry, but I feel a little angry. I’m a little miffed for so many people in the media, in the Biden White House, on Jill Biden’s staff, former colleagues of yours concealing this. They’re not upset that Joe Biden is losing it. They’re upset that we all know now and we all saw that he’s losing it.

LaRosa: So a couple of things, for context. So I haven’t been there in about two years. But what I would say is it just wasn’t my experience. I’ve been pretty consistent and I’ve been critical when I thought it warranted being critical. He did not… I’ll just say this: the debate was as jarring and shocking to me as it was for a lot of people. It wasn’t my experience when I was there. A lot of the gaffes that we were watching just now, I mean, that’s been Joe Biden his entire career. He’s always made flubs and gaffes and things like that. So to me, some of the speech vernacular was nothing new and nothing worrisome. There wasn’t a doubt in my mind that that Joe Biden was up for the job, that he was cognitively aware and fully in command and control.

She also asked LaRosa if he thought Biden was going to stand by his insistence to remain in the race:

Conway: You’re telling the audience right now that you think Jill and Joe Biden are going to dig in. He’s going to accept that nomination at the Democratic National Convention five weeks from now, and he’s going to be the nominee?

LaRosa: What happens five weeks from now, I do not know. But I do know in the short term that it is going to have to take a lot more than blind quotes and five members of Congress to push them out. It’s just not going to happen.

LaRosa was asked by Conway whether it was the First Lady keeping her husband in the race:

LaRosa: But I would say this, Kellyanne. Anybody who thinks Jill Biden would not be the first person in the car, in her convertible, headed to the beach to Rehoboth without a reason in the world to return to Washington is fooling themselves, if he didn’t want to run. That’s not how their marriage works. He never stood in her way as she aspired to get three advanced degrees to teach as Second Lady, to teach as First Lady. And she never stood in his way.

Conway: When I look at him, I wish she were a real doctor, believe me, because he could use one next to him

LaRosa: She has something that I think you can admire in her, and that is from having a front row seat to politics for five decades. She does have good guts and instincts, and I say that because she knows, she knows that this is what her husband wants and she is… He never stood in her way. She’s not going to stand in his way. This is what he wants. This is not what Jill Biden wants. She would love nothing more to be at her beach house, relaxing, grading papers. She has a life of her own.
