Fox & Friends Segment on Chicken Nugget Tree Is Every Bit as Weird and Delightful As You Would Hope
While Fox & Friends is a Fox News program that provides news and commentary on a daily basis, it’s also a show that is happy to delve into lighter territory. And this holiday season, the co-hosts spent the last segment of Wednesday’s 6:00 AM hour making a Christmas tree out of chicken nuggets.
The festive appetizer display featuring Chik-Fil-A nuggets stuck to a tree of kale was the creation of Mackenzie Biehl, a lifestyle content creator based in Florida who was the guest for this segment. Biehl’s Instagram video featuring the tree had gone a bit viral, racking up over a million views by the snack/craft-obsessed, so the Fox & Friends crew wanted to see what the fuss was all about.
What happened was a bloodthirsty competition for which pair of hosts could create the best tree. But there could only be one winner, and all losers would be impaled and displayed Game of Thrones-style on the very large and famous tree outside Fox’s studio.
No, not at all. This was purely delightful, and thanks to Biehl and Fox & Friends, everyone now has the opportunity to make their own Chik-Fil-A Kalemas Tree!
As the segment began, co-host Carley Shimkus (in for Ainsley Earhardt) pointed out: “I think this is the first time Chik-Fil-A is going to be anywhere near kale.” Kale — the garnish you can eat, but won’t!
Biehl then gave simple instructions to the teams of Steve Doocy/Lawrence Jones and Brian Kilmeade/Shimkus who had a head start on creating their trees and happily skewered their nuggets to the kale-covered cones. When it came to even more delicious tree trimmings, Kilmeade asked Biehl if the “special sauce” they were provided was to be used as tinsel. To which Jones provided a very serious, real-time factcheck:
It’s Chik-Fil-A sauce, Brian.
Before this turned into a messy sauce fight, Biehl explained that no, the sauce stays safely and sanitarily in a receptacle next to the tree.
And then — the final judgment. When asked which of the two trees was better, Biehl declared the Doocy/Jones tree to be the winner, but she did like Shimkus’s pants. Kaley Chik-mas, everyone!
