While the rest of the sports world waits for the return of Bill Belichick on the sidelines or at a media desk somewhere, he’ll be working on a book.

According to a report from The Athletic, the former New England Patriots coach is planning some kind of book. It’s not known if the book will be some kind of tell-all or just Belichick’s “views on leadership or a topic in the genre.”

Shortly after the conclusion of the 2023-24 season, the Patriots and Belichick decided to part ways after 24 seasons and six Super Bowl wins. It was widely assumed that the 71-year-old — considered one of the greatest coaches in the history of the sport — wouldn’t take long to find a new coaching job. As vacancies were filled and his name remained on the board, however, it began to set it that he likely wouldn’t be on an NFL sideline in 2024.

Belichick has also attracted significant interest from media figures, with Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions and ESPN’s Pat McAfee expressing a willingness to bring into their respective folds.

The timing of the report is significant because, as noted by The Athletic, he was just featured in Apple TV’s documentary Dynasty. The documentary, focusing on the Patriots’ run of dominance led by Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady, has faced criticism from former teammates for its portrayal of the coach. Additionally, team owner Robert Kraft has expressed his own disapproval of it.
