This Christmas, Rob Schneider and Chef José Andrés Tweeted Back and Forth About Paella

Christmas eve, Rob Schneider took to Twitter to share how excited he was that his paella was going into the oven.

The photo shows pre-cooked rice and lobsters, all sitting in a glass baking dish, ready to be cooked. The problem is, as several Twitter users pointed out, paella doesn’t get cooked in the oven. One user asked, “Do you know what ‘paella’ is?” Another said, “This is not paella. This is rice with things.”

Schneider angered lots of people in Spain, and an account called @TrendsSevilla tweeted that the actor was trending there. He replied, “That is HILARIOUS! The best Christmas present!” That’s when celebrity chef José Andrés decided to get involved, and offered to teach him to make the dish via FaceTime.

Schneider then Tweeted to the people of Sevilla that he “offended” that the lobsters in the dish “crawled in by themselves!” He got it wrong again, and Andrés was quick to point out that paella is actually from Valencia, not Sevilla.

At that point, Schneider decided a trip was in order. He suggested going to Spain once he’s done filming his Netflix show Real Rob. Andrés did him one better, suggesting they create their own show.

Looks like Schneider is going to try again. This time, he’s asking for help.
