Clay Travis Declares Democrats Need a Presidential Candidate That Men ‘Want to Have a Beer With And Talk About Football’

Clay Travis, founder of OutKick, declared to Fox News Friday that in order to be successful, Democrats needed a presidential candidate that a guy would “want to have a beer with and talk about football.”

Travis was asked to comment on a recent appearance by Steven A. Smith on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast, in which Smith said he was sick of Democrats using “demagoguery” to win votes.

“I think he’s right there,” Travis said. “And, here’s an easy question, I think, for a lot of people, as it’s Thanksgiving. I hope everybody’s having a great Thanksgiving weekend. If you’re anything like my family, you’re going to be watching a lot of football.”

Travis then gave his recommendation for political success.

“Who is a Democrat right now that a man, a man who is a football fan, would like to go watch a football game with, have a beer and talk about football with?” Travis asked. “They thought Tim Walz was that guy, governor of Minnesota. Guess what? He wasn’t!”

Travis continued:

I’m not sure that the Democrats have a “normal dude.” And I think that’s kind of what Steven A. Smith is alluding to. The challenge that they have going forward, whether it’s AOC, whether it’s Gretchen Whitmer, whether it’s Josh Shapiro, or Gavin Newsom, I don’t think they have a “normal guy.” And, if you project, going forward, given how much Trump won Black, White, Asian, Hispanic men in particular, if they can’t put a dent in that, it’s only going to grow.

‘Cause I think in 2028, the younger generation coming up, I’m gonna have two of my own boys who start to vote, all their friends. There is a major issue with cultural affairs as it pertains to the Democrat Party. And, if they won’t say that men can’t compete in women’s sports, they’re probably not gonna be a dude you want to have a beer with and watch a football game with this weekend or any other.
